Robert Durham received his MFA in Scenic design from the University of Georgia. 

He has served as technical director for New American Theater in Rockford, IL; Stages St. Louis in St. Louis, MO; and Construction Coordinator for New Dominion Pictures, a television studio producing for Discovery Channel in Virginia. Rob also spent several years working at Virginia Scenic, a production house building national and international touring shows. 

In 2005, he went to China with Warner Brothers Theatrical ventures as master carpenter to mount the world premiere of Casablanca the Dance with the LA Dance Theater. 

For 8 years, Rob took a break from theatre to focus on cabinetry and furniture, creating pieces for the Biltmore Estate, Sierra Nevada Brewery and Tupelo honey café as well as private clients in and around Asheville, NC. He managed a high end cabinet shop and had his own work featured in galleries. 

Rob joined the University of Iowa in 2015 as the Scene Shop Supervisor and became Technical Director in 2023.
