University Choir / Camerata Singers Concert

The University of Iowa Camerata Singers and University Choir come together to share an evening of choral music.

The event highlight is University Choir’s performance of The Sacred Veil by Eric Whitacre. Scored for choir, piano (Halie Augustus), and cello (Dr. Jamie Clark), the twelve-movement work sets texts by poet Tony Silvestri and traces the story of his wife Julie’s life, illness, and passing due to ovarian cancer. The piece unfolds with remarkable intimacy, moving through moments of light, love, and loss toward quiet reflection. Whitacre’s transparent textures and sustained harmonic language create a deeply personal musical experience that has resonated with performers and audiences alike.
