The administration of the first female President, Amelia Badeau, has just been rocked by a scandal that has ruined her re-election campaign. While awarding public school history teacher Cass Blue, a lockdown is initiated due to a deadly and infectious infertility pandemic. As Cass and Amelia spend weeks in lockdown they begin an affair, much to the chagrin of the first husband, Thomas. Only afterward does Cass reveal she has been pregnant since her arrival, and her pregnancy may be one of the last healthy pregnancies on earth.
