Performing Arts Production Unit
Industry professionals committed to collaboration and education make the University of Iowa a hub of innovation and creativity in the performing arts.
The Performing Arts Production Unit staff supports the production needs of the Department of Theatre Arts, School of Music (Opera), and the Department of Dance, while simultaneously mentoring and training students through on-site, real-world production work.
Iowa students have the chance to work alongside top-notch pros in the Theatre shops and Dance/Opera shops located across the arts campus in the Theatre Building, Hancher, and Performing Arts Annex to realize designs created by students, faculty, and staff in Dance, Opera, and Theatre Arts.
Performing Arts Production Unit staff members are highly trained industry professionals in audio engineering, costuming, design, digital media, electrical, props, props artistry, scenic art, scenery construction, stage management, and technical direction.
The Performing Arts Production Unit leads the installation of productions into a variety of performance venues across campus and the community, including the Hadley Stage at Hancher Auditorium, E.C Mabie Theatre, Alan MacVey Theatre, David Thayer Theatre, Space Place Theater, and the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts.
